Ski Trip Insurance

One of the best things about the winter, other than snuggling up with your loved one next to a roaring fire, is hitting the slopes of your favourite ski resort for some serious adrenaline and good times. Well, before you hop on the plane with skis or snowboard in hand, be sure to consider taking out some affordable ski trip insurance.

Ski trip insurance is not purely limited to the adrenaline junkies who’ve had one too many red bulls just waiting to tackle the next black diamond ski slope. Most insurers will have limits as to what falls under the umbrella of ski trip insurance but it’s not uncommon to find cross country skiing, mono skiing, recreational competitive skiing, on and off piste skiing, snow boarding (including glacier) to name but a few.

As a general rule, always double check with each policy provider to ensure you understand what is and is not covered. Other common types of ski trip insurance include annual and single ski trip insurance, european ski insurance and worldwide ski insurance.

There are usually age limits but people can be covered up to the age of 65. Your ski trip insurance may provide several million pounds worth of accidental cover, replacement of ski or snowboard equipment, compensation if a ski trip is cancelled due to no fault of your own, or even provide recompense if your ski trip is affected by natural causes such as snow storms or avalanches.

Some ski trip insurance providers aren’t concerned if you have pre-existing medical problems however, be sure to mention everything when getting your free quote. As with any insurance policy, try not to assume what your policy covers or doesn’t cover. Explain to the advisor exactly the type of skiing holiday you plan to have in case there are any clauses not easily identified in the small print.

As with most trip insurance policies, kids under the age of 18 are usually included for free. If you and your friends or family plan to take several winter holidays per year, you should consider annual ski trip insurance to see if you can get a better deal. Additionally, you may find that other winter sports are covered by the same policy such as ice skating or competitive snowboarding. An annual policy will cover you for an unlimited number of winter holiday trips per year.

Overall, the winter can be one of the best times to get out and partake in outdoor sports. Skiing is a hugely popular sport but can be quite dangerous so by having a solid, comprehensive ski trip insurance plan, you’ll be able to “chill out” knowing you are covered in the event of accident, injury, or almost any other event that could ruin your holiday.
